Spartan Ruin: A Reader is a free takeaway booklet (ed. 200) and an online pdf companion for Kwak’s exhibition Spartan Ruin, at Commonwealth & Council, LA (2021), stemming from their term as 2020-21 Artist-in-Residence in Critical Race Studies at Michigan State University. The reader is edited by Jeanne Dreskin and contains texts by art historian Karin Zitzewitz, a piece co-authored by Dreskin and Kwak, and a roundtable with members of MSU’s Asian Pacific Islander Desi American (APIDA) community.
